Russian philosopher, culturologist, literary critic, linguist, essayist, Honored Professor of Theory of Culture and Russian Literature of Emory University (Atlanta, USA), Professor of Russian Literature and Theory of Culture and Head of the Center for Humanitarian Innovations of Durham University (Great Britain), Member of Russian Pen-Center and The Academy of Russian Modern Literature, graduated from the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University. Author of 30 books and more than 700 articles and essays translated into 18 foreign languages. The main research topics are the methodology of the humanities, postmodernism, poetics (in particular, literary archetypes and the theory of metarealism), the philosophy of modalities, the theory of Soviet ideology and philosophy, the semiotics of everyday life, projective linguistics, and the prospects for the development of language and thought. Laureate of the Andrei Bely Prize in 1991, the Institute of Social Inventions (London, 1995), the International essay competition (Berlin-Weimar, 1999), the award of the magazine Zvezda (1999), the Liberty Prize for his contribution to Russian-American culture and the development of cultural ties between Russia and the US 2000.
